even at this price the surgeon general says "stop buying them they are ineffective"...probably good advice...
the cdc and the new york times agree about where covid-19 cases have emerged...
however...forty-three is not eighty-eight...then again the cdc's numbers close out a four p.m. the day before posting and may be stale...the n y times is the bearer of "the truth" ( i am not kidding...have a look at it...the seem to claim it every issue )...they may be more on top of things...
the really good news is that markets are up! and why, you ask? because the possibility of making private loss public makes capital squirmy in its chair...got a call from one of the offspring whose brother-in-law is a physician saying that the virus is probably in this state since it is in a neighboring one, which seems probable, and that we should be stocking up on water and dry goods in case of a quarantine...provisioning is probably a good idea in any case and i think there is ample food hereabouts...but when did water in plastic bottles become a staple necessity? there is running water of a potable quality piped into the house...as long as plague does not impact utilities we should be alright ( and, like everywhere else, there is bottled water in the house )..i have dusted off a copy of wiliam mcneil's "plagues and peoples" to peruse alongside "the new class" by milovan djilas...still looking for de foe's "a journal of the plague year" and the sections of samuel pepys' diary concerning the 1665 plague in london may be instructive as well.
