another day in the nascent pandemic and there is disparity in the news...

the center for disease control, falling into line with "the paper of record", has begun to update uits website daily rather than monday-wednesday-friday and today's map shows thirteen states reporting cases...

"the paper of record" tells me there are sixteen states with cases...again this is most likely due to the fact that the figures the cdc is reporting are from four p.m. the previous day ( and why would that be? ask trumpy about the short staffed and underfunded agency...and besides, pence is in charge of the whole government operation on this...no need to look further for source of the muddle ) while the "bearers of the truth" are updating around five p.m. daily with whatever numbers they have that day ( presumably )...so there may be some confusion/uncertainty due to time lag in numbers reported and this, of course, will give ammunition to conspiracy theorists and wonky jerks everywhere...if indeed they are paying attention through whatever distorted lens they possess...and a confused and fearful public is ripe for the nihilists led by pence to manipulate them into evangelical hands...propaganda inroads into health matters have a long history here...

and while we are on the subject of a fearful and malleable public, just to see what is up in the consumer world i wandered by the "cleaning supplies" section of the local office depot and took a photo of their "hand sanitizer" section...inventory was remarkably lean there...they have no idea when they may receive more and when they do it too will vanish...clorox stock may be leading today's market rebound as much as relief over biden's sudden popularity...it wasn't a complete waste of time ( i had imagined this is what i would find...people are more predictable than they like to think..which may be a subject for another blog more politically inclined...this is a political issue however...the occasional rant may crop up ) i purchased a couple of pny 32gb flash drives...who knows what medical use they may harbor?
