amazon has said it has removed "millions" of "misleading" and "unscrupulous" vendors of surgical masks who are gouging a fear driven public...so we are going to try to keep track of information, misinformation, lies, paranoia, and local experience all at once along with a look at the economic impacts which have already manifested themselves in those bastions of wealth, stock markets which closed down of friday but i am told asian markets are up because they are hoping for central bank bailouts...virus as a reason to make private loss public...capitalism loves fear...fear does weird things to people and you should never turn your back on the frightened...they can be unhinged...i have enrolled in the n y times newsletter about this virus and, as yet, haven't seen it turn up in my mailbox...either a glitch or they have not gotten around to it yet...the cdc on the other hand...

and this on 29 february...not quite an epidemic yet in terms of government numbers...but the government always cooks the books and with the laughable mike pence in charge of the national anti-virus effort there may be a good deal more traffic in plain lies and distortions...so we will be looking for alternate resources for information and trying to piece together a realistic picture...one thing i can say is that no retailer i can find locally has any surgical masks, dust masks, or anything else that resembles a mask on their shelves and no if/when there may be more...there is a post on "a fugitive from polite society" about my mask buying experience... http://chemicalpariah.blogspot.com/2020/02/corona-virus-as-growth-opportunity.html which would have landed here if i had actually had this in existence...any more information/experience i collect will be here...
the cdc says this is where the confirmed cases of the virus have occurred to date...we will see how that may expand.
