prepare for an extended emergency
apparently in response to what must be his favorite newspaper...
trummpy is due to announce a "national emergency" and i notice that the stock marker has "rallied" because part of the plan would seem to be an economic stimulus so the wealthy will not become a victim of less poor is the new rich syndrome which i identified in a separate blog in 2008...i have a number of questions about this "emergency"...what does it entail in terms of expansion of governmental and presidential powers? are local law enforcement going to nail my door shut? are state borders going to be closed ( technically a gross violation of the constitution but what does the elite care about that? ) domestic travel impeded..cars impounded...roads closed...or is it just a cover for making private loss a public debt...i know what i am thinking...
it could be a long emergency...graphics in the times show the virus's spread peaking in july...four months...a lot of primary elections could be jacked around in that time...the times says the peak, depending on what preventative measures are taken and when could be between three and nine million cases with between 317,000 and 1,000,000 deaths...good news...fear spreads and i am not distorting that...there are fewer than 20 cases diagnosed in this state ( even though we all know there are many more that have not been reported/diagnosed here and around the country ) and yet as i went to a couple of super markets i found...
that panic buying had reached the area...true, to a greater or lesser extent depending on location. however milk, bread, water, cleaning product, and toilet paper ( that favorite of hoarders ) are becoming premium items and if this is a four month "emergency" ( or longer ) there will be bread lines and soap lines and whatever kind of line you care to imagine and things will not get cheaper..unless this is all hype and fearmongering with an agenda...in which case the panic will ease and you will be able to find 70% isopropyl alcohol again and the gouging on line will stop...there are some miserable people in the world...
here are today's maps...fairly useless since they are vague and/or grossly inaccurate because no one really knows who has what where..except i know one store that has hardly any bread...so what to do? carry on with life as "normally" as possible is my plan..i will go to work tomorrow...i will mingle with the public...i will wash may hands...i will use my sleeve as a prophylactic when i open doors and press buttons...i will avoid poorly ventilated rooms...and i will not unduly worry myself about contracting this and if i do i will seek medical help...what else is there to do? i refuse to participate in panic buying ( i bought eggs and milk to make bread with...i have flour and yeast and the other ingredients on hand ) and i will continue to question the government's and the times' motivations in what they do...neither are altruistic institutions...and they should be made aware people are watching...and what's my cut of that $50 billion going to be? $0.00...wall street is euphoric though.
